FORENSIC THERAPY

Forensic Therapy

I provide therapy for individuals who have been involved in harmful, high-risk or high-impact behaviours, including those under Local Authority involvement, facing sentencing, or seeking to actively take responsibility and change.  My role is therapeutic rather than legal; while I do not provide expert witness assessments, therapy can sit alongside court or Local Authority processes where individuals are engaging in genuine personal change.  The focus here is on understanding behaviour, exploring impact, and building responsibility in a space that allows for human complexity — good people can make harmful choices, and still seek change.

Who I Work With

I work with adults who may be:

  • Facing sentencing or seeking to show meaningful personal change

  • Under Local Authority involvement due to risk, safeguarding or parenting concerns

  • Struggling with patterns of violence, coercion, emotional harm or control

  • Living with complex trauma, shame, personality difficulties or harmful relational patterns

  • Seeking to break cycles of harm, self-destruction or repeated offence-related behaviour

This is specialist therapeutic work — not an assessment or report service. There is very little I have not heard before, and nothing that cannot be explored here with dignity. I believe that people are more than the worst things they have done — change is possible when someone is willing to look honestly at themselves.

My Clinical Approach

I draw on evidence-based forensic and clinical models, including:

  • Schema Therapy – understanding deep-rooted patterns and beliefs

  • DBT-informed interventions – emotional regulation, impulsivity, interpersonal risk

  • EMDR – processing trauma and high-impact memories

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) – reducing shame and self-attack

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) –   exploring internal parts that protect, react or defend and result in harmful behaviours

My background includes delivering and supervising offending behaviour programmes (violence, sexual harm, learning disability, personality disorder) across secure and community settings.

What Therapy Focuses On

 Therapy may include:

  • Understanding cycles of shame, anger, harm or control

  • Developing responsibility, accountability and internal regulation

  • Working through trauma, guilt, remorse or self-directed anger

  • Building safer behaviours, relationships and decision-making

  • Receiving support while navigating difficult processes such as court involvement, police investigation or Local Authority scrutiny

I provide a safe, confidential space without judgement — a place to explore behaviour, its impact on others, and the possibility of personal change with honesty and support.

About the Work

I understand the realities of criminal justice, parole and Local Authority involvement. While therapy is separate from formal legal processes, it can run alongside them — offering a confidential space to face difficult truths, explore harm, and work towards genuine change.
